average provider productivity
Adventist Health: a 12-year partnership built on productivity
What started with one scribe and one provider in 2013 grew into a program across seven locations. Productivity rose 35% on average, charge capture rose 15%, and nine of the system's ten most productive providers work with scribes.

- 24 primary care clinics, a 302-bed medical center, home care, and hospice
- 550 physicians, 1,900 employees
- 142,000 outpatient visits and 55,000 emergency room visits in a typical year
01
The challenge
Across a large ambulatory network, documentation load was capping provider productivity and complicating recruitment and retention of top clinicians. The system needed support that could scale clinic by clinic and hold up over years, not a pilot that faded.

What Scribe-X put in place
Scribe-X placed its first medical scribe at the Adventist Health clinic in Welches, Oregon, in December 2013. The program grew clinic by clinic to seven locations, with scribes trained in the organization's EHR and documentation standards and delivering real-time support in the visit through a remote service model.
Along the way the program became something else too: a recruitment and retention incentive the system offers its top-performing clinicians.

The results
average provider productivity
average charge capture
most productive providers in the system are scribe-supported
partnership start, and still running
- The charge-capture gain means the documentation now supports the care actually delivered, visit after visit.
- The partnership has run continuously since 2013, through the COVID-19 pandemic, on the strength of shift continuity and training quality.

We have relied on Scribe-X for many years to support our providers with medical scribes. I've been very impressed with how responsive they've been to our evolving needs, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. I am very happy with how they have used their remote service model to deliver excellent training and shift continuity, despite initial hesitation from some of our providers. I strongly recommend them to any clinic looking to improve efficiency and provider quality of life.
